Default Question?-will CAT40 tool holder work in a BT40 spindle???

I'm looking to purchase a spindle speeder that has a CAT40 tool holder and I have a Bridgeport Series II Interact 4 that has a BT40 tool holder. Are these two inter-changeable??

Bherr,

If you will work only change the tool manually, no problem, because the degree of the tool holder is the same. You only need see the correct pull stud. But, if you will work with tool change automatic, no way. The collar of the tool holer is different.

It will work in manual as Xavierdemoura states. If you want to switch it over to run with a toolchanger you typically have to change out the Tool change fingers for the tool change arm or arms on the machine.

I know for the Haas tool changers the diference between the CAT40 and BT40 tool changers is the fingers on the CAT tool disk are above the locator and the fingers on the BT tool disk are below the locator.
