Friends, it is really confusing when dealing with mazak controllers when taking backup. I have taken backup in a m60/m64 controllers like all programs,nc parameters, maint data etc using rs232 setting with data bit 7,stop bit2,parity even and baud rate 9600 without any hassle. My request is is the data bit setting 8 is for older controllers like m1/m2,t1/t2 and is it for only programs backup? If so what is the setting for taking the backup of the other parameters like nc,maint etc in older controllers? Thanks chandru |

When you look at the setting in a Mazak they usually say 8 databits. But in the computer you should always select 7 databits. The reason for the confusion is that Mazatrol count the 'Parity' bit as if it was a data bit. 7 bits of data + 1 bit of parity = 8 bits. So, in the mazak select 8databits 2 stopbits. In the PC select 7databits - even parity (that's 1 bit) and 2 stop bits and all will be well. Take a look at this page for more info on that CNC DNC Settings for Mazak |
