Programming and operation depend on which version live tooling you have, old style single spindle units or new style with the triple spindle units - these changed around 2003.

Nwere style machines (after 2003) listed below:

DUAL DRIVE Software PMC 4.0 Edition B6

This system consist of 2 removable live heads and 2 FIXED drive cables. Drive cable 1 LABELED 2005 and drive cable 2 LABELED 2105.

Drive cable 1 is programmed with a M_____S______ To make drive cable 1 active you must press E stop mushroom, simultaneously press SPDL CW & SPDL CCW. If the L.E.D. lights up for CCW, drive 1 is enabled. If you press those buttons simultaneously again, L.E.D. goes off, drive 1 will go off.

Drive cable 2 is programmed with a M_____S______ A2 To make drive cable 2 active you must press E stop mushroom, simultaneously press SPDL FREE & the blank push button just to the right of SPDL FREE. If the L.E.D. lights up for the blank push button, drive 2 is enabled. If you press those buttons simultaneously again, L.E.D. goes off, drive 2 will go off.

USING BOTH LIVE HEADS…install both heads, connect both cables, enable both drives. Note where you install drive cables 1 and 2 so you know how to program the appropriate live spindle and direction. The 2 drive cables will mount on either motor.

USING NO LIVE TOOLING…..Disconnect both live heads and turn OFF both Drive
cables 1 and 2.

All live tool spindles use ER20 collets and the round nuts that require the face pin wrench.

Hope this helps
Tom

Tom
I don't know if i have old or newer live tooling but,I have an electric live tooling that plugs into an outlet inside the machine either A or B.Also their is only 4 speeds for the live tooling plus another gear for high torque low speed. The book says M51 A1.0 S2.0 "A" being the outlet "S" being one of the 4 speed ranges.I will try the reset button and see if it is on,The error code I get is an 078" no number found".I thank you for the help

Thanx
Joe

Joe,
Soundsd like you have the older style unit, when you call the the m51-m54 command line it calls up a macro to run the lt attachment.
It sound like you are missing the macros. Do you have a 0 or 18 control? I have all the macros and some parameters you may need to verify.
