Default Drip Feed, Memory Card, Seicos 18

Hi,

I am currently using Hitachi Seiki Milling Machine, as far I am concern one of the VS or VK types. I only working in this cell since December and I have noticed a problem. Machine memory is very short, doesn't read long programs. The guys there are using drip feeding from PC. This works fine but...We are doing one off production and we have no room for scraps. So, when we wants to machine safely complicated part with specified tolerance we would bring up our Z and say high the cutter diameter and machine it. Then check it. Then we would change to make it right and run it again. But say our tool is fifth in order, with drip feeding I have to run all four other tools again and then current one. This is time westing, I have sticked memory card.
Is there any way to read program from memory card as normal from machine memory. What do I have to change? Thanks

Well, it has Seicos 18M on it but this is very similar to Fanuc, almost identical. I hope you will be able to give me some advices. I have the same control on my 4 axes lathe but I was never using drip feeding over there till I got moved to milling department. Maybe you have some experience with Seiki Manager software, can I use it for drip feeding or transfering programs with network cable?

Does your machine have the Ethernet connection or will this be RS232 connection using Ethernet cable between the DB9 and DB25 connecters? I have not used the straight Ethernect connection nor do I dripfeed so I am not sure if you can dripfeed with that. I do know that if you are using the RS232 you can indeed dripfeed.

I do not believe that you can however I am not 100% sure as I have never dripfed a machine before. If you are currently dripfeeding have you tried to stop the machine to see if you can?

Is your size limitations the program size or number of files? I am supprised you don't have enough memory.
