Default Fanuc Motor and Drive Repair

Hello All,

My name is Kevin and I am new to the Cncforums website. I work for a company that offers repair on select servo and spindle motors as well as Fanuc Electronic repair. If you are having issues troubleshooting, give me some information and I will do my best to find your solution. For the Fanuc drives, if you give me the alarm and model #, I should be able to point you in the right direction. Thanks!

Posted problem March 4/2010 (today) " Fanuc 6T-Model B, 401 Alarm" that explains problem, machine is a Hitachi-Seiki 4NE-600 Lathe. The unit will zero return, move to setup x and z zero position, but when program (that worked) is recalled from memory, the unit rapids to start position, spindle starts and then 401 servo error displays. The unit has been idle for quite a long time. As mentioned in previous post, our manual is missing some pages that are related to this error code and I believe the previous owner had the same problem and tried to correct, but only got as far as removing the pertinent pages. Any help would be welcome

Good Morning John,

I have the missing pages you are looking for. Let me know the fax number you want me them send to. The number to my office is 414-281-7700. I would give you my email, but due to the fact that I am fairly new to this forum, it won't let me put my email address in this messageb. If you call in, just ask for Kevin.

Best Regards,

Kevin

Hello Michael,

Perhaps I should begin by giving you a little bit of background on myself. I work for a company that repairs both servo/spindle motors, as well as Fanuc and Indramat drive/amplifiers. I want to specify that my recommendations are derived from working with my customer base's equipment, and not from any equipment I am running in our facility. I do however have a unique perspective in being able to distinguish durability of this type of equipment.

If you are running a cnc machining application, Fanuc seems to be the most reasonable and reliable equipment. As of right now, Fanuc has about 70% of the market share of machine tool motors and drives. Another thing that is key, is it seems to be the easiest brand to find people to service it. The newest series of Fanuc is Alpha i. While I feel the encoder enclosure on this series, when compared to older series, appears to be slightly more vulnerable to coolant contamination, shops with 25-30 multi-axis cnc machines, typically only see a handful of repairs every year.

I would have to advise against Yasnac controls with Yaskawa motors as well as Okuma controls with Okuma motors. It is not that these are of poor quality, but if you ever have to get service, you are forced to call in a rep from the OEM, which always seems to be more costly than you think it should be.

I hope this is of some use to you Michael. If you would like to discuss any issues further, feel free to respond to this message. I am pretty sure, I am not able to post my phone number on this forum, but if you reply to this message with a means for me to contact you, I would be happy to do so.

Best Regards,

Kevin Sippel

Hello Friend

I have a Hitachi Seiki lathe with Fanuc 6TB.
It has been working well but just from some days to now has started to stop while it is running showing alarm 401 & 410.
I know those alarms are related to servos but i do not know exacltly the description and the potential solution.
Could you help me? . Thanks beforehand

Frank
