Default Help, Cutter Radius Comp on Kitamura MyCenter 1

A friend of mine owns a Kitamura MyCenter 1. I believe it was built back in 1964. I write most of the programs for him and I would really like to be able to program to the part path instead of the cutter path. Can someone tell me how to envoke the cutter radius compensation for this machine. The keyboard has no "D" on it to use a position in the tool length offset screen and there isn't another screen display to enter the radius in. Does that machine use another letter to call up cutter radihs comp??

What control? There are typically parameter settings that allow cutter comp to be called up off of at the same time the H command is instated.

It is a Fanuc control. I don't know any of the particulars of it.

I can't offer anything else without knowing which Fanuc control. On the monitor it should say Fanuc followed by a number designating which model.
i.e. Fanuc 18iMB, Fanuc 3M, Fanuc 10M, etc.

Sorry I took so long to get back to you. I just talked to him tonight and he said the control is 3M. Also it was built in 1984 not 1964. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

The 3M had a parameter that could be changed to allow the buttons to be mapped for a different character output, but I haven't touched a 3M for quite some time to remember what it is.

If you have the parameter manual it should be listed. If not, have you tried downloading a program via RS232? You could insert your D commands there.

He doesn' have a parameter manual and I've been pushing him to get his laptop hooked to it so we can start downloading programs instead of typing them in at the machine. I'll let him know what he needs to do and hope for the best. Thanks so much for your help! Now it's up to my buddy.

Thanks, I didn't realize you use the same letter for the cutter dia. on older Fanuc controls. We have newer machines where I work and they all use D for cutter diameter. One question, do you use the dia. or radius of the tool? I'll let my friend know so we can start programing to the part path. Thanks again!

We program with tool dia. already figured in tool path.We just adjust for tool wear or if we need to cut larger.I am sure it depends on how you do your programs rather you use radi or dia.
