Default Mazak tool file

Could someone explain to me when is it neccessary to put a tool Information into the tool file. I seem to have problems understanding tool file and tool layout. thanks

On the Mazatrol, you have tool data ( which you have to describe the used tools in the program). The tool file is where you put a more detailed in formation on Milling tools being used in the Tool Data page. IE: you have an 1" end mill in the tool data page. After describing this tool in the Tool Data, you go to the Tool File and further describe the tool, like how many flutes the end mill has, actual tool diameter. This is more for the Mazatrol Program side. Tool Layout is for allowing the control to "layout" the used tools in the program. This allows you to either make sure you have all the tools needed in the prog. and or arrange the tools to be ran in that prog.. Hope this helps, if not write back.
